The winner of the 2007 inaugural Helen Hill Animated Award is
Heather Harkins for her project She's A Lady Animator.

She's a Lady Animator traces the unknown stories of women animators working during World War II and brings them to life through an innovative and engaging work combining Harkin’s animation and interviews with the women.

Heather Harkins is an independent animator based in Halifax. Her previous films include Don’t Blink, The 8 Husbands of Zsa Zsa Gabor and Duncan's Cove. She is currently Chair of the Board of the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative, and is an active independent curator of film presentations here and internationally. She also teaches children’s workshops at film festivals and in the community using hands-on film scratching techniques.

The 2007 Award includes;
$5000 in services from Power Post.
$1000 in equipment and facility access plus $500 in film stock* from the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative (for NS resident).
$1000 in equipment and edit suite access, plus $100 mentoring support from the Centre For Art Tapes.
$1000 in equipment and facility access from the New Brunswick Filmmakers’ Cooperative (for NB resident).
$500 cash from CTV.
